Elementary Teachers Network
ETN provides services to individual schools and across networks of schools. We have primarily collaborated with Bronx and Manhattan schools within the Empowerment. Network and have done extensive work with special education teachers through what was formerly District 75.
Our recent work includes ongoing workshops for teachers and administrators from small alternative elementary schools in Manhattan and from a charter school in the Bronx. ETN's consultants provide site-based classroom and administrator support in these schools.
Staff from ETN are in working collaborations with the New York City Writing Project, Lehman College's Writing Across the Curriculum Initiative; the Prospect Summer Institutes for Descriptive Inquiry, North Bennington, Vermont; the Develop Your Own Assessment (DYO) Project of the Center of Urban Education at Long Island University, the Perceptual Development Institute of New York City (PerDev), and the New England Consortium of Progressive Educators.
From 1996-2002 ETN was one of nine participating New York City professional-development organizations in the Students at the Center Project, a program in three cities across the United States funded by the DeWitt Wallace-Readers Digest Fund and the Charles Hayden Foundation.
